Zihmer Announces Campaign for Carroll County Board of Education

The following is a press release issued by the Friends of Kristen Zihmer campaign.

Kristen Zihmer of Westminster filed her candidacy and announced today that she will be running for Carroll County Board of Education 2024, a nonpartisan county-wide race.

Term limits prevent two current board members, President Marsha Herbert and Donna Sivigny, from running for re-election in this cycle.

“Today I am thrilled and honored to announce my candidacy for the Carroll County School Board in the upcoming 2024 election,” said Zihmer. “As a life-long county resident, I am confident that my commitment to education, record of community service, and my demonstrated success in building bridges and forging consensus make me uniquely qualified for the job.”

As a local small business owner Zihmer has first-hand experience delivering desired results within budgetary and regulatory constraints. “If elected, I will bring my experience and results-oriented approach to the Carroll County School Board.  I plan to work collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, and other local elected officials to make decisions and set policies that enhance academic excellence, ensure school safety, and benefit the students of Carroll County.”

“The students are the future,” said Zihmer, mother of two children enrolled in Carroll County Public Schools. “I am eager to take my  campaign into the community, engaging with parents, teachers, students, and all Carroll County community members. I will listen carefully to ideas and concerns and offer my vision for Carroll County Public Schools.”

After helping her children climb onto the school bus this morning for their first day of school, Zihmer made her way to the Carroll County Board of Elections to make her candidacy official.
